However, in this essay assignment, students will have to deal with questions that have to do with the former topic. As mentioned above, students will not have to use this as a lecture topic.When a student begins writing his or her essay, he or she may consider about using as his topic the main plot of the book. That is because, the majority of the topics that the students are going to discuss will be about the life of an American girl in post-revolutionary America, and what happens when she is captured by a commander and put into slavery. The subject matter may have to do with personal and private choices, decisions, feelings, values, and thoughts. Moreover, students should try to include at least one aspect of the other topics.There are a few essay topic s that could include. First, the topic may include the topic of a female handmaid, who has been taken from the house of her mother and left to work in the home of a commander. The commander may have many other wives and children, but a woman would be a significant part of the family.Next, the student may want to include a general background of the Commander, as well as a background of his family. And then, he or she could include a brief history of the fictional society, specifically the concept of 'handmaids.'Next, the student may want to include the Commander's decision to keep his wife alive, while leaving the handmaids in a harsh condition. He may have allowed a 'bloodline' of sons and daughters, who are supposed to be loyal to him. And, the handmaids, he may have decided that they would follow the Commanders' orders, and that he would watch over them and take care of them.Another student may wish to include a character called the Handmaid, who is basically a woman, who is subje cted to being a slave for the male members of the Commanders' household. A Handmaid might have to work in different jobs.Lastly, the student may want to include a character called the 'The Commander,' who has many wives and children, and who is one of the most powerful men in the book. He could have many more wives and children, and he may choose his own favorite among them.
